Maverick Park Crowdfunding Launch Party

When: Tue., May 12, 5:30-10 p.m. 2015
Maverick Park will hold a launch party announcing its crowdfunding campaign to add a state of the art, world-class dog park to this public space. The crowdfunding campaign unites downtown residents in a community-driven project, as public, private and philanthropic donors seek to revitalize Maverick Park. The first phase includes construction of a dog agility area, a creek for water recreation, a washtub facility, separate areas for large and small dogs and a terrain play area. Maverick Dog Park is set to be a net-zero impact facility with sustainability features including a water filtration system. Plans for future phases include an outdoor adult fitness area, children’s playground and public art area. The Maverick Park revitalization initiative focuses on recycling and sustainability as the driving forces behind this project. “A crowdfunding campaign like this has never been done before in San Antonio,” says Joe Alderete III, Maverick Dog Park Project Manager. “The transformation to Maverick Dog Park will be an exciting addition to River North and the downtown area, as there are currently over 1,800 residential units and more to come by 2020,” says Alderete. “However, Maverick Dog Park is for all San Antonians and their pets to enjoy. A perk is the central location within walking distance to numerous pet-friendly downtown attractions.” Alamo Beer has announced they will match donations from all Alamo Beer purchases made at the launch party and GS 1221 will donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to Maverick Dog Park. Guest speakers are scheduled to begin discussions about Maverick Park’s transformation at 6:30 p.m. Guest speakers include Xavier D. Urrutia, Director of San Antonio Parks and Recreation, Noah Almanza, President and CEO of San Antonio Parks Foundation, Ashley Riley, Assets Manager for AREA Real Estate, Larry Clark, Vice President of Bender Wells Clark Design, Alan Warrick, City Councilman District 2 and Joe Alderete III. 501C3 tax-exempt donations may be made on-site at the launch party or online at https://www.causes.com/campaigns/90769-revitalize-maverick-dog-park
