Medicine in the 19th Century has been described as “heroic” reflecting not so much the practitioners of physic, but rather the bravery of the patients for enduring the cure often times deemed worse than the affliction. This story depicts an emerging Republic that cobbled together civilian physicians in an attempt to assuage the fevered and bleeding brow of revolution.
