Mike Quu

Stand-up comedian Mike Quu (pronounced Q) promises to deliver a “pedal-to-the-metal ride of laughs” for his Full Throttle Comedy Tour in San Antonio, the 22nd city on his 49-city trek across the nation — from Miami to Seattle. During a phone chat with the Current last week, the Long Island native said Full Throttle features all new material and covers everything from paying back student loans to current events. Most of the set, however, focuses on what it was like growing up in the 1980s in comparison to living today as a millennial in the age of social media and how that affects relationships and dating. “Technology plays a factor,” said Quu, 34, who is also the host of the podcast Teach Me I’m Stupid. “Now you have to go back and delete your entire digital footprint. If you meet a girl face to face, she’ll think you’re crazy. She’ll tell you to just slide into her DMs instead.” When asked if he recently read about Jacqueline Ades, the Phoenix woman who sent 65,000 texts to a man after only one date, Quu said he could sympathize. “I think I dated her.”
