Hailing from the shaded river town of New Braunfels, multi-instrumentalist Daniel Thomas Phipps actually sounds like he’s written his own music.
Let me explain.
Too often we get these Brooklyn or Oakland “folk” artists who write songs that sound like they grew up like Dolly Parton – without electricity in the Smokey Mountains or some shit.
Not Phipps.
Sure, he’s doing some pop song structuring and melody writing. But there’s this natural rustic edge in his work that’s convincing enough to make us believe he is the real deal.
