As part of Esperanza Peace and Justice Center’s monthly Noche Azul concert series on March 19th at 8 PM, Azul Barrientos will pay tribute to Mercedes Sosa, Violeta Parra and Soledad Bravo who are South American folk singers and activists. These three women were part of the Nueva Canción movement which is political folk music incorporating indigenous styles of South America and began in the 1960s in Chile.
Azul will be accompanied by musicians Aaron Prado, George Prado and Nina Rodriquez.
Tickets are $5 at the door. Doors open at 7:15. Seating is on a first come first served basis.
