Noche Azul: "Frida & Esperanza"

In keeping with the celebration of Frida Kahlo’s 110th birthday, the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center will present “Noche Azul: Frida & Esperanza,” to honor the life the of the Mexican artist. Performers Aaron Prado and the Azul Barrientos, the Esperanza Center’s singer and songwriter-in-residence, will take the stage for two performances this weekend to share original music and Tangos written specifically for Noche Azul. As a part of the Esperanza Center’s Arte y Corazón program, Noche Azul is an ongoing series of intimate performances showcasing music from Latin America, Mexico and Spain, covering genres of bolero, ranchera, folk, jazz and electronic music. Recognized worldwide for her self-portraits and surrealist-style paintings, Frida Kahlo is a highly praised artist and iconic figure whose life is celebrated throughout San Antonio this week. Hear Prado and Barrientos celebrate her life through their own form of expression this weekend.
