Tess Martinez showcases an exhibit approached from an onlooker perspective proposing questions of perception and calculation. They represent a personal interpretation of civilization lingering in notions of self and relationship to space and time. Indicative of the social psychological concept, the Looking Glass Self, created by Charles Horton Cooley in 1902, "a person's self grows out of society's interpersonal interactions and the perceptions of others." This specifies perception of self is formulated from societal interpretations therefore we are defined by everyone but ourselves. Consequently, how do we define people you cannot really see?
