San Antonians love tamales, and this year one of its biggest tamal-making parties is moving to a new location.

Founded in 2008 by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and hosted by Dr. Carmen Tafolla and Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark until 2016 when they added the Cortez family to the masa, La Gran Tamalada has served as an educational event for the community. The day-time event would bring out tamal novices and pros for classes on how to make masa, and how to build the perfect tamal.

For its tenth year, La Gran Tamalada is heading to Downtown's Market Square on Sunday, December 1o from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Per chef Cariño Cortez, the event outgrew its original location. It's new home at Market Square will allow for more programming for adults and children as well as accommodate its growing popularity. The event will still be free of charge for attendees.

514 W. Commerce St., (210) 207-8600.
