Pagans and those with an interest in paganism, or traditional, earthy spiritual modalities in general, will converge on a mall (of all places) this weekend for a festival that celebrates the rather amorphous set of traditions that fall under the banner of paganism. While sometimes defined as “religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions,” paganism has taken many forms over the millennia and often involves a focus on elemental forces and manifestations of divinity in nature. This special event will feature talks (discussion and lecture), various vendors (arts and crafts, spiritual items, clothing), live music, food and much more — all with a pagan bent. Whether your interest in paganism and related topics is devotional or passing, this event will provide a positive space for the appreciation of spiritual leanings that diverge form the norm, which sounds like a fine way to spend a Saturday to us. Plus, with the festival promoters suggesting that attendees “dress in whatever defines [them] as Pagan/Heathen,” we have a feeling that this will be a superb occasion for people-watching.
