Launched by Tokyo-based architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in 2003 and now a global phenomenon practiced in 900-plus cities, PechaKucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) follows a simple premise: creative professionals show 20 slides for 20 seconds each during presentations lasting six minutes and 40 seconds. Active since 2011, the local chapter's 24th outing takes over the Witte's sprawling Mays Family Center Tuesday evening. Emceed by Emmy-winning news anchor Randy Beamer and former Spur Brent Barry, the program features presentations by anthropologist/educator Adam O. Aguirre, advocate Joan Cheever, "human being" Odie Cole, Pearl Chief Marketing Officer Elizabeth Fauerso, Artpace Executive Director Veronique Le Melle, architect Bob Shemwell and former mascot Rob Wicall. After kicking off at 6:30pm with a happy hour featuring a cash bar provided by Park Social, small bites from The Good Kind, King’s Highway Brew & Q, Pharm Table, Say She Ate and Sweet Chela’s, and music by Saturn Skies, the night's presentations begin at 7:30pm.
