Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon (Deluxe Experience version/remastered)

Current photographer Steven Gilmore is out of his mind — he thinks 1983's The Final Cut is Floyd's best album (that's what years of pure, unadulterated socialism does to your ears). That album is fine and way underrated, but most agree the band's best hour is found on either Dark Side or The Wall. I belong to the former camp for the simple reason it is arguably the most perfect marriage between progressive experimentation and pop music ever made. As part of Floyd's completely revamped catalogue, the remastered version went back to the original tracks (the album you know was a third-generation tape) and you hear absolutely everything as they performed it live. The 13 bonus tracks are a mixed bag, containing a half-hearted live performance of "Breathe" (even at Live 8 the band sounded better), a glorious live version of "Money" that turn into a blues jam, Rick Wright's original piano demo of "Us and Them," and an abridged version of the Making of... movie. If the remastered Clare Torry's vocals in "The Great Gig on the Sky" alone don't inspire you to get this album, something's wrong with you.
