Although you probably haven’t seen as many people wandering around aimlessly with their cell phones in hand playing Pokémon Go as you did when the augmented reality mobile game debuted in Summer 2016, the most avid players are still on the lookout for their share of Yungoos and Gumshoos and other virtual species. In fact, Pokémon Go made a whopping $73 million last month in revenue. It’s no wonder Pokémon fanatics needed their own Pokémon-themed gaming convention. Now in its second year, PokéFest SA, which takes place the day after role-playing video games Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are released, gives Poképeople of all ages a chance to compete in gaming tournaments, participate in cosplay contests, watch stage performances and a laser show, and purchase merchandise from more than 100 vendors. Fans will also get the opportunity to meet actor Eric Stuart who provides the voices of Pokémon characters Brock and James from the anime TV series. Cosplay guests scheduled to attend are Briste D’Lucen, Seth Vance, Dominique Skye and Oz. And remember parents: It’s your job to help your little ones catch them all, so wear your walking shoes.
