  • San Antonio Fashion Awards

The first San Antonio Fashion Awards is drawing closer.

With all of the candidates being nominated, now it's time for the people to vote.

The contest asks Alamo City residents to choose the best of the best in 11 different categories that range from make-up innovator of the year to fashion-artist of the year.

"Our fashion and style community is so vast and amazing, unlike any other I've experienced," Burgundy Woods, founder of the event says in a press release. "Style Lush TV is so honored to pioneer this groundbreaking event for our city. Everyday the excitement grows as new people and businesses join in — it's incredible!"

The polls are open through September 12 for local retailer of the year; make-up innovator of the year; hair innovator of the year; magazine of the year' fashion blogger of the year; best fashion event of the year; model of the year; fashion stylist of the year; fashion-artist of the year; best menswear designer and best womanswear designer.

The awards ceremony will be October 10 at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts.

The San Antonio Fashion Awards are the creation of Style Lush TV, an online fashion network dedication to all-things style in the Alamo City.

"This project has been a labor of love since Style Lush TV first launched on July 4, 2014. It almost feels symbolic that we are formally announcing our signature event around the one year anniversary of our company and to make things even more exciting we are ecstatic to announce that SA2020 and the city of San Antonio have deemed this event parallel to the 'City On The Rise' mission. As a city backed event, we are so excited to bring this glamorous affair to our incredible city and to celebrate all of our fashion communities accomplishments."

The event also has backing from SA2020's arts and culture cause, working toward San Antonio's mission of being "a city on the rise."

The event will benefit the Zero Limits Foundation, a local nonprofit working to empower young adults to reach their creative potential and pursue careers in a world of creativity, despite obstacles they face.
