QUOTED

Robert Ssebunnya, Uganda's health minister, on how to ensure young people who promise to remain virgins do so. To curb the spread of AIDS, the Ugandan government is rewarding those who stay chaste into their 20s by giving them a few head of cattle for the men or a refrigerator or a stove for the women:
"We're going to test the girls. In the case of boys, I guess we will have to trust them not to lie."

An exchange between Sandra, the host of radio program "En Confianza" and Father Xavier Ortiz-Dietz during a December 1991 interview on KCOR. After pleading no contest to charges in 1994, Dietz is serving a 20-year-sentence for sexually assaulting young boys:
Sandra: Father, can perversion be excused, in a convenient way?
Dietz: No it is never possible and nobody should have the right to disregard perversion for a convenience.
Sandra: You being a priest, you can forgive sin. But at what time do you realize that sin is really becoming a perversion?
Dietz: When the person is in a situation ... and has no control and has reached an extreme situation, an impulse, then those are clues to realize that there is a serious spiritual problem that I have to look into it further by means of medical, mental, and spiritual evaluations.
