RIP Texas Trash: Tobin Hill Thrift to Close

San Antonio's thrift and vintage game will lose a badass Tobin Hill player when Texas Trash closes at the end of January. The three-time winner of the Current's voter-driven award for Best Thrift Store, Texas Trash offered a ridiculously cheap wardrobe of band tees, vintage patterns and costume wear (I can point to a few well-worn shirts in my closet pulled from the racks of Trash).

Like many buildings in the area, the store has seen its share of purposes. The wide front panel and pentagon hints at a fast food history—perhaps a Jack in the Box or chain pizza joint. With impromptu skate sessions, a hearse parked permanently in the back and a few dozen cans worth of spray paint decorating the lot, Texas Trash was a wild display of SA small business attitude. Located at 1710 McCullough, the store will stay open until the end of January, offering a 20% sale on their gear.
