For round three of the SA Artist Spotlight, we're featuring local powerhouse Suzy González. The multi-talented artist is also one half of curatorial duo Dos Mestizx
, whose Centro de Artes exhibition "XicanX: New Visions" was unfortunately marred by a censorship controversy
before the gallery was forced to close due to the pandemic.
Much of González's vividly rendered work is imbued with a sense of hope — something many of us need right now. Some of the pieces she shared with the Current
showcase the versatility of a nontraditional medium: corn husks.
In addition to the original artworks for sale, a selection of these works
are available to order as prints, and anyone looking for inexpensive reading material to while away the time at home is also in luck, because González also has an array of zines
available for $3 a pop.
