Just in time for National Poetry Month, PuroSlam, San Antonio’s robust slam poetry chapter, is hosting an important and exciting qualifying competition.

Competing poets have accrued points in grueling word/wit duels throughout the slam season (up through Tuesday, March 27) and now the top 10 point-earners (which, as of this writing, was still an evolving list) will battle for one of five spots on the team that will rep San Anto at the National Poetry Slam in Chicago at summer’s end. The winning poets who ultimately comprise our competition team for this year will have some big shoes to fill, as they will look to follow up on last year’s solid nationals’ showing that included a third place finish in Group Piece Finals.

Suffice it to say: this is gonna be intense. If you only attend one PuroSlam event this year, it should be this one.
