1999 was a pivotal year for Gregg Popovich and the Spurs franchise. After capturing their first NBA title, San Antonio drafted an unknown lefty named Emanuel Ginobili in the second round of the draft. Four championships, two All-Star appearances and a Sixth Man of the Year Award later, and Ginobili remains one of the most dynamic players in the game and a force of nature in crunch time. With two game winners before Christmas, the fire still burns for Manu, who may just not be ready to pass the baton to the next generation of Latino ballers in the backcourt, led by rising star Devin Booker. The young Sun announced his arrival with a 70-point game on Boston’s hallowed parquet floor last season, and after being sidelined with a strained left adductor earlier this season, Booker is back in action for Phoenix. Although Danny Green is likely to get the bulk of minutes against Booker, watching him match skills with Argentina’s cagey icon is worth the price of admission.
