Here’s one more sign that Texas is pulling out of one of the most devastating droughts on record:
The San Antonio Water System will lift all water restrictions for the first time since 2011, effective tomorrow.
The decision comes after “recent deluges have sent the Edwards Aquifer level skyrocketing,” according to a news release. May was Texas’ wettest month on record, and the record rainfall resulted in devastating floods throughout the state.
Year-round water restrictions still apply, so use of a sprinkler or irrigation system is only permitted before 11 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
The Edwards Aquifer Authority announced earlier this month that it would also lift pumping restrictions for groundwater permit holders who use over 3 acre feet of water per year.
