So, if you’ve been keeping up with the newly-revamped American Idol, you know that one of San Antonio's own drag queens, Ada Vox, landed a spot on the show after auditioning back in October. We're totally not biased when we say she's been S-L-A-Y-I-N-G the entire season.

Quick recap: Known out of drag as Adam Sanders, Ada Vox (whom we interviewed recently), auditioned for American Idol, got on the show, and made it through the grueling rounds of performances during the notoriously intense Hollywood Week.

Last night, the singer, along with the other contestants in the top 50, performed at a nightclub in downtown LA in front of a live audience, where they would face elimination or continue to the next round.

And, girl – GIRLLLLLLL – Ada Vox absolutely destroys her cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” and we’re literally gagged over here about it.

And it’s not just the way that she sang it – I mean, it is probably the best cover of the song we’ve ever heard, but the song choice itself felt smart, personal and a touch political, especially with the continued attacks on the LGBTQ community.

The chorus of the Radiohead song goes: “But I'm a creep / I'm a weirdo / What the hell am I doing here? / I don't belong here,” – lyrics anyone who identifies as LGBTQ could relate to (including myself). It was touching and emotional, and to hear her sing it with such unabashed boldness had us in tears.

Watch the video of her performance below.

“I wanted to face you all as myself,” says a makeup-less Sanders after their performance, which received a deafening standing ovation.

Lionel Richie responded, “You have taken us on a rollercoaster ride,” and announced that Ada Vox will be in the Top 24.

Watch the next episode of American Idol on ABC at 7pm on Sunday, April 8.
