Police arrested the alleged monster who is accused of what Animal Care Service's has called the worst case of animal abuse in San Antonio.
Last night, in a
Facebook post, ACS said the San Antonio Police Department's East Side Property Crimes Detectives, working in partnership with ACS cruelty investigators, arrested a suspect late Tuesday afternoon.
The
San Antonio Express-News reports authorities arrested Ignacio Sanchez Alvarez, 45, and charged him with felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal. The SAPD may also charge Alvarez with animal cruelty for failing to render adequate care, according to the newspaper.
The suspect is accused of pouring hyrdochloric acid over 100 percent of the dog's face. Rosie, a pit bull, lost one ear and part of another, along with going blind. She's expected to receive restorative eye surgery this week, thanks to an outpouring of community support and monetary donations.
"ACS staff have worked tirelessly and diligently over the last week and a half investigating in support of this case. We remain grateful for the outpouring of love and good thoughts for Rosie and we send a thank you to the San Antonio Police Department for their continued assistance with this case," the agency said on social media.
"As the case progresses through the judicial system, we'll provide updates, as available. Rosie is in protective foster care, continues to heal, and should be receiving her restorative eye surgery this week - thanks to the gracious support received by the community."
