Godzilla: The Uncut Japanese Original

Once upon a time Godzilla was not a campy icon of far-out Japanese culture. He was a scaly, fire-breathing, anti-H-bomb allegory. The original 1954 Godzilla, co-written and directed by Ishiro Honda, will screen at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Bijou at Crossroads Theatre. Movies at the Instituto

La Malquerida
Dir. Emilio Indio Fernández (1949)

Mexican film sensation Dolores del Rio stars in this oft-adapted tale with fellow Epoca de Oro de México idol Pedro Armendaríz. The film screens at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Instituto de México, 600 Hemisfair Park. Admission is free.

Movies on the Slab

Blonde Savage

Movies on the Slab continues the jungle theme with this female Tarzan tale starring Leif Erickson. The film screens at dusk Thursday, June 9, at the Slab at Probandt and Cevallos, across from La Tuna Icehouse. Admission is free. For more info, visit

The Tour Baby!:
Behind the Scenes at the Tour de France

In the tradition of guerilla filmmaking, The Tour Baby!, a digital-video-cam fanzine, captures the street-level drama, hilarity, and star-fucking atmosphere of the Tour. Proceeds benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The film screens at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) Wednesday, June 15 at the Bijou at Crossroads Theatre, 4522 Fredericksburg. Camp Cinema

AMC Theaters is offering a free Summer Movie Camp. Games and entertainment will be provided by counselors, followed by screenings of G- and PG-rated movies. Co-sponsored by Cartoon Network, which will present cartoon reels before each film. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Movies screen at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays through August. For more information, visit
