The Quentin Tarantino Film Festival

For the sixth year, Quentin Tarantino is coming to Austin for a nine-night festival of his favorite B-movies. The event has always been a crowd-pleaser, but daytrippers risk disappointment: Badges guaranteeing admission are sold out, and single-night passes will be available only for those willing to wait until 15 minutes before showtime to see how many seats are left. The Tarantino Fest takes place September 9-17 at the downtown Austin Alamo Drafthouse, 409 Colorado. Tickets are $10-30. For more info, visit

Cinema Tuesdays with Texas Public Radio

Easter Parade Dir. Charles Walters (1948)

Fanciful Fred Astaire, trying to forget ex-partner Ann Miller, takes the screen along with Judy Garland in a light-hearted film filled with Irving Berlin tunes. The screening begins at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, at the Bijou at Crossroads Theatre. Tickets are $10 TPR members / $12 nonmembers, available at or 1-800-622-8777 during business hours.

Movies at the Instituto

Esos de Penjamo Dir. Juan Bustillo Oro (1952)

A musical comedy starring Joaquín Pardavé and featuring Pedro Infante. The movie screens at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 11, at the Instituto de México, 600 Hemisfair. Admission is free.

Movies on the Slab

Westworld Dir. Michael Crichton (1973)

Gun-slinging androids terrorize visitors to a futuristic themepark. The feature screens at 9 p.m. Thursday, September 8, at the Slab at Probandt and Cevallos, across from La Tuna Icehouse. Admission is free. For more info, visit
