More and more Austin bands seem to be sliding into San Antonio for shows, and we gotta be honest, they’re pretty good.

And look, SA, regardless of whether Austin wants to acknowledge San Antonio artists (heads up, the real Austin folks know), we’re gonna highlight good music when it comes to town, no matter where it comes from.

Brought to you by Sofar Sounds, a production company that throws sorta secret, intimate house shows across the U.S. and U.K, Culture Wars might easily become your favorite new Austin band.

Combining a little bit of an electronic dance edge with straight up rock ‘n’ roll, the band reminds me of Metric, especially on “Bones.” The second track from their eponymously-named 2017 album, “Bones” has as much indie anthem aesthetic as Arcade Fire but with enough danceability to easily be a club jam.

The vibe is sexy, the musicianship is stellar and the dynamic changes up enough to draw listeners in.

Joining these poppy leather-sex rockers are RMRS, The Kraken Quartet and Tera Ferna.

Free, $5 suggested donation to enter guitar giveaway, proceeds go to supporting The Alzheimer Association - Memories with melodies, Sat May 19, 8pm, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St. papertigersatx.com.
