Sneak Peek of Some of This Year's Most Inventive Battle of Flowers Parade Floats
Ahead of the 127th annual Battle of Flowers Parade (9:30am-12:30pm Fri, Apr. 27), we got a sneak peak of nine colorful floats featured in the “Treasured Places” portion of the procession. In keeping with the parade’s Tricentennial-inspired theme of “300 Timeless Treasures,” the floats draw nostalgic cues from cherished local landmarks and traditions. Created in collaboration with high school students from Jefferson (The Love of the Great Outdoors), Cole (For the Young and the Young at Heart), Churchill (Holidays in the Park), Southwest (Eastside, Westside, All Around the Town), Judson (Take Me Out to the Drive-In), Marshall (Let’s Rodeo), O’Connor (Entertainment Legends), Highlands (Quinceañera) and McCollum (Historic Market Square), “Treasured Places” represents weeks of design work, not to mention an estimated half-ton of styrofoam and 600 pounds of glitter.
