S'Nuff film

Is your Marfa Film Festival ( entry in the mail yet? It must be postmarked by TODAY (Wednesday, February 25). Good. We can proceed then.

The eighth-annual Jewish Film Festival, put on by the Jewish Community Center, begins Saturday, February 28, and continues through March 5 at the Santikos Bijou (4522 Fredericksburg). Check out p. 33 for more info. Tickets are $8 per person per film or may be purchased in packs of 11 for $70. Purchase them, and view a full festival schedule at

Show up at the Bijou two days early (note: they tend to frown on that), on Thursday, and you’ll be treated to a free screening of Beyond the Epic Run, a feature-length doc about a Swiss man who ran 25,000 miles in five years, at 7:30 p.m.

If just reading that description makes you sweaty, you might be more comfortable watching Happy Birthday, Harris Malden, an indie comedy concerning a man and his fake moustache, screening 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the main gymnasium at North East School for the Arts (1400 Jackson Keller). Admission is $4 for students with ID and $8 for the general public, and portions of the proceeds go to NESA. Go to for more info.
