Solar Fest 2010

Release Date: 2010-04-28

Solar San Antonio has organized an enlightening family day in the sun that fuses education and entertainment to raise awareness about ways we can make innovative changes to the ways we use power. Tent talks, live music, and an array of eco-conscious vendors will rely on solar power and soy-based biodiesels to get the message across. At 2pm, Solar San Antonio’s Executive Director Lanny Sinkin (who was voted SA’s Best Activist/Watchdog of 2010 by Current readers) will provide an overview of how guests can get involved in the solar revolution. Solarfest’s musical lineup highlights some of the best country, folk, roots, and blues acts in SA, starting with Glenn Allan and Kim Mackenzie (10 a.m.), followed by Slick Dickens (11 a.m.), The Krayolas (aptly “unplugged” at noon), Peacefield (1 p.m.), Benny Harp Blues Band (2 p.m.), and Step Aside (3 p.m.). Free, 9am-4pm, Maverick Park, corner of Broadway and 10th Streets, (210) 354-0236,
