The Davenport's subterranean sound lab introduces two members of the Philadelphia-based music collective Tigerhook Corporation to San Antonio on Saturday, December 27. DJs Randall Jones and Hito will school the city in progressive house. For a little audio sampling, check out Tigerhook at

The evening kicks off the martini lounge's new initiative in booking national acts to bump the recently renovated lower level. Houston-based progressive DJ Sean Carnahan and SA's own deep house DJ SolSugar open. The only thing more appealing than the lineup is that the show has a meager $5 cover (21 and up only). The Davenport is located downtown at 200 E. Houston Street.

Angst-ridden hard-rock quintet Medicine Tongue's scheduled December 19 show at White Rabbit served to celebrate the release of the band's sophomore CD. The band, which formed in 1997, has been a local mainstay since 2000, when its three original members - guitarist Roman Surman, drummer Blake Wilburn, and bassist Marc Semlinger - added fiery singer Fred Silva and his friend, guitarist Chris Cabello, to the mix. The new CD finds the group expanding on the dark themes of last year's full-length debut, Collide. Supporting Medicine Tongue at the White Rabbit gig were Uriel and Minister Fiend. •
