Sound and the Fury 

Time flies when you’re headbanging, and no one knows that better than Robb Chavez, host and creator of cult-fave cable-TV show, Robb’s Metalworks. This summer marks 10 years since Chavez brought the SA cable-access market a video/interview show celebrating every ear-melting contour of modern metal.

In recent years, Chavez, who has managed to build an international fan base through word-of-mouth, has extended the reach of RMW by hosting a series of Texas underground-metal summer festivals.

Predictably, those efforts have drained time and energy away from his TV show, so this year he decided to (at least temporarily) pull the plug on the RMW festival.

That doesn’t mean, however, that Chavez won’t be actively celebrating his big anniversary. This week, he’s hosting “Ten Years in the Hole,” a free, invitation-only, six-hour party for approximately 60 guests at Cabo Grille. The event will feature rare acoustic sets from Bay Area thrash-king Rob Cavestany (Death Angel) and local guitar heroes Damian Omen and John Guzman, from Man of Sorrows.

As for RMW, it continues to run on the third Sun
