Southerleigh is expanding, and it's setting up shop on the South Side.

The restaurant announced via press release that it will open a second San Antonio location, this time on the Southeast side of town at Brooks. Like the original, Southerleigh's menu uses locally sourced ingredients to bring Southern favorites combined with Texas Gulf Coast flavors, though this menu will be more casual and steer toward family-style portions. Beer transported from the original location's brewery will also be on tap.

The location, expected to open next fall, will be off of Sidney Brooks and Kennedy Hill Drive. It will sit in the heart of The Greenline, an urban linear park with massive public art pieces. That will pair well with Southerleigh, which will have a large deck and outdoor space to enjoy the scenery.

"We're excited to expand Southerleigh into a new neighborhood and introduce our culinary style to a new audience," said chef and owner Jeff Balfour. "We are thrilled to be joining this growing community at Brooks."

Southerleigh is just one of the first San Antonio-based restaurants that will set up shop at The Greenline, which connects to the Mission Reach. Chef Johnny Hernandez also announced he'll take his signature shops to Brooks with a fourth La Gloria and a new home for the recently closed El Machito. Both are expected to open in fall 2018.
