Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Love Triangle

Love Triangle

The dynamic between Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and Clara Schumann inspired the 1947 biopic Song of Love. As illustrated in the film, Clara (a celebrated pianist) married Robert (a composer and critic) against her father’s wishes. More than a decade later, the couple welcomed young Johannes into their home and fostered his talent. Touted as a genius, Johannes fell for Clara as her husband fell increasingly ill with a condition that led to his death in 1856. In widowhood, Clara championed Robert’s oeuvre while inspiring new works by Johannes. Burned letters and compositions fog the story of a pair many assumed would marry. Ballet San Antonio and SOLI unite to explore this relationship through choreographed pieces celebrating works by all three sides of classical music’s most intriguing Love Triangle. $25;Feb 12 7:30pm Tue, Feb 12; Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, One Trinity Place, (210) 999-8515, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
