One of San Antonio's burger institutions suffered a fire on Sunday morning. Blanco Road and adjoining streets were blocked off as the San Antonio Fire Department put out the flames.

According to SAFD, there's no known cause for the fire, and Arson will investigate, though there is "no reason to be suspicious yet." The total damage sustained is still unknown, but SAFD said the fire was mostly over the storage area of the restaurant.

Opened in 1977, by the late Chris Madrid (who passed in 2012), the restaurant was sold to new owners as of this September. No word yet on when the restaurant will open; Chris Madrid's is closed on Sundays.

1900 Blanco Road,  (210) 735-3552.
