On their 2012 LP Tesseract, Houston’s Sunrise & Ammunition imbues math rock with a needed feel of excitement and emotion. SA’s Collective Dreams express their visions in a terse form of instrumental rock. SA/ATX act Televangelist blends post rock and a light hue of emo with progressive guitar shredding. Named after the third baseman of Atlanta fame, Chipper Jones’ 2014 Two Rooms EP is an exciting experiment in improvisation, featuring four “improvised sketches” and other live-recorded material.
