Texas A&M University-San Antonio is opening a new exhibition at the Educational & Cultural Arts Center, located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, on Thursday, October 30. The Dia de los Muertos exhibition features photographs of Day of the Dead commemorations in Mexico City by Dr. Rubén C. Córdova, entitled Besos de la Muerte, the Children of the Revolucion, an award winning documentary by Kathy and Lionel Sosa, and a historic altar inspired by the Children of the Revolucion, created by La Familia Cortez, Mi Tierra Café, and Deborah Cortez. The altar depicts the general theme of the Mexican Revolution as well as the Latinization of the United States and, particularly, Texas. It highlights key families who migrated to San Antonio as a result of Mexico’s Civil War which occurred from 1910 to 1920. The exhibition will remain open and free to the public until February 1, 2015.
