Texas Blue Bucks Music Series

Celebrate the start of the New Year with fun, friends, and live music! Stop in and enjoy some awesome live music entertainment at The Lion & Rose at the Rim every Thursday in January from 9pm to Midnight. Catherine Denise is a blues guitarist/vocalist/songwriter from San Antonio. She has played many clubs and festivals in Texas as well as other parts of the country. She has a four-piece blues band consisting of guitar, bass, piano, and drums. Catherine has opened for and/or played alongside the following artists: Rick Derringer; Doyle Bramhall; Bugs Henderson; Texas Johnny Brown; Van Wilks; Omar and the Howlers; Alan Haynes; Carolyn Wonderland; Smokin Joe Kubek and B'nois King, Tab Benoit, and Gary Clark Jr. You can contact Catherine by email at [email protected] or at (210) 846-3557. She is currently working on another CD which is scheduled to be released next summer. Known as the "Godfather of Austin Blues", WC Clark has mentored countless blues/soul players in Austin. Blues stars Stevie Ray & Jimmie Vaughan, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton & Marcia Ball have all perfected their craft under Clark's tutelage. He has won WC Handy Award for "Best Blues Song" & "Best Blues/Soul Record" and been nominated for many more categories. Blues Revue says "Clark conjures the vocal power of Otis Redding & Wilson Pickett & the guitar of Steve Cropper & Albert King." Living Blues calls him "a first-rate & funky, passionate & powerful performer..a singularly skilled leader among modern blues artist." Guitar Player says Clark is "armed with a powerful, gospel-approved voice & delivers his songs with God-fearing intensity." Clark's soulful singing & blistering guitar playing guarantees that his constantly growing fan base will never stop shouting for more.
