The Art of Disaster

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2009-01-14

Disaster strikes at the Bijou this Sunday as Scene From Both Sides screens the first film produced in its inaugural program. During the four-week class, students participated in the production of the short film and experienced all the stages of filmmaking first-hand, including writing, directing, shooting, editing, and screening. Produced by Nikki Young and Chadd Green, The Art of Disaster tells the story of an unlikely lackey who finds himself trapped in a comic nightmare when he is forced to bring his son to the office on a very bad day. Young, President of PrimaDonna Productions, Inc. said, “The students came from very different backgrounds and had different levels of experience in the industry, but they committed themselves fully to the class and the film.” The students’ progress was documented in video blogs on WOAI.com and on WOAI’s San Antonio Living. Also screening will be High School Football Spotlight: Jimmy Jo Johnson, a short film produced by students from Scene for the San Antonio Film Commission’s SA 48HR Film Experience. $5, 6:30pm, Santikos Bijou @ Crossroads Theatre, 4522 Fredericksburg Rd., (210) 734-4552.
