Edgar B. Davis had a passion for oil, money, art and wildflowers. Without this eccentric wildcatter, the San Antonio art scene might never have blossomed in the first part of the 20th Century. Davis enticed artists from all over the country to paint Texas wildflowers, encouraged the stylistic move toward Southwestern Regionalism, and gave the job of organizing the competitions to the San Antonio Art League.
