The most anticipated new restaurants and bars coming to San Antonio

Hot Joy 1101 Broadway
Southtown favorite Hot Joy announced in a June Instagram post that it will end its decade-long stay in Southtown in favor of a new location opening in the same building as NOLA and Pumpers. The new digs are planned to open late this summer with a menu bringing back old favorites like pork belly tacos and hot fried chicken.

Bobbie’s Cafe 606 Embassy Oaks
Bobbie’s Cafe is taking over a former Magnolia Pancake Haus location in North Central San Antonio, which is projected to open in September. Owners Greg and Ana Ferris don’t want to abandon the South Side, though, so they plan to open another Bobbie’s in the old Neptune’s Seafood House closer to the end of the year.

Curry Boys 19903 Stone Oak Parkway, Suite 101
Nationally renowned Curry Boys will open a second location on Stone Oak Parkway, allowing their Southeast Asian and South Texan fusion dishes to reach a wider audience. The opening date is still TBA.

The Sicilian Butcher Location TBA
Arizona-based restaurant chain The Sicilian Butcher is expanding to the Alamo City, bringing along its famed five-foot charcuterie boards and build-your-own cannoli bar. Family recipes from chef Joey Maggiore feature scratch-made pastas and other Italian culinary staples.

Hash Kicthen
5534 N. 1604 West and 4108 Broadway
Another Arizona-based chain is coming to San Antonio. Hash Kitchen is making its first foray into both Texas and the Alamo City. Hash Kitchen is a brunch-focused restaurant known for its Bloody Mary bars, and it will be opening two new locations here closer to the end of the year.

The Rah! Rah! Room 6322 San Pedro Ave
The Bang Bang Bar co-owners Phanie Diaz and Jamie Hoppe plan to open a new nightspot in the space formerly occupied by The Rec Room. The opening was originally planned for earlier in the year but still has yet to be announced. The Rah! Rah! Room will serve as a music venue and full service bar.

Pumpers 1101 Broadway and Jones
Chef Stefan Bowers announced in March that burger pop-up Pumpers would finally open its own brick-and-mortar spot including a full bar. Pumpers has gained a following since its launch in 2020. The new spot was originally projected to open in April but after some delays the new opening date is October 15.

Melvin’s 226 W. Bitters Rd
Max & Louie’s Diner owner Drew Glick announced the restaurant will expand to free up space to grow the original restaurant’s in-store bakery. Melvin’s will specialize in baked goods, ice cream and coffee. The new operation will launch in early October.

Mexico Ceaty 849 E. Commerce—The Shops at Rivercenter
The old food court at the Shops at Rivercenter has big plans ahead, thanks to local restaurateur Jason Dady. The Tex-Mex food hall and market, dubbed Mexico Ceaty, will feature four new restaurants and bars as well as a Mexican-style market and art activities. There will be a speakeasy with agave tasting, a 300-seat bar and panaderia, as well as many other entertainment and dining experiences coming in early 2025.

La Panadería Bakery Café–Southtown 812 S. Alamo St.
Next year, the rapidly expanding La Panadería chain will open its first Southtown location, amid other expansions to the Pearl and Stone Oak areas. The restaurant will feature signature dishes as well as beer and wine.

Slim Chickens Locations TBA
Slim Chickens franchisee Dan McGrath has already opened several Slim Chickens in and around San Antonio, but plans to add even more, saying that he expects that the San Antonio market could handle 12 or more additional locations. The Arkansas-based chicken chain specializes in classic fried chicken entrees and southern-inspired sides.

Urban Bird 22106 US 281 N., Suite 102 and 8802 Potranco Road, Suite 111
Urban Bird is Houston-based and veteran-owned, and it's expanding into San Antonio later this year, though no official opening dates have been announced.

McFlys Bar and BBQ and Just Like Heaven 829 N. Alamo St.
The owner of Bentley’s Beer Garden is at it again with two new projects opening in the same building. McFly’s Bar & BBQ and Just Like Heaven will share an address, the latter of which will be a nightclub featuring '80s and '90s music. Construction is slated to finish by September 30, but no other announcements have been made.

Adair Kitchen 4108 Broadway
Houston-based family restaurant chain Adair Kitchen will take over the recently closed Jim’s diner this fall. The comfort food chain serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and this will be its first foray into the Alamo City market.

Bellagreen 1900 Broadway, Suite 160
Bellagreen is a Dallas-based American bistro whose menu boasts a variety of healthy eating options along items catering to those with dietary restrictions. With stores open in Houston and Dallas already, this will be the first San Antonio Bellagreen, according to MySA.

Terry Black’s BBQ 2100 Broadway
Terry Black’s BBQ is a Texas-wide chain with plans to expand to San Antonio. MySA reported that Terry Black’s has plans for a dining courtyard and subgrade parking at the upcoming Broadway location, and even a new hotel concept.

Dean’s Steak & Seafood 431 S. Alamo St.
The Kimpton Santo boutique luxury hotel will open Dean’s Steak & Seafood on August 29. The two-story dining experience is located in a converted historic German-English schoolhouse. Officials said menu item names playfully pay homage to the structure’s days as a schoolhouse.

Privilege Social Club 8338 N. Loop 1604
Chef Brian West developed a pairing menu with different spirits for new concept Privilege Social Club, which will take over the old PK’s Bar and Grill. The menu pairs spirits with small plates, for example the vodka course offers caviar and crème fraîche, fresh pommes frites and a "lavish" lemon-tini cocktail. The exact opening date has yet to be announced.

The Purple Garlic 14415 Blanco Road, #105
In a February Instagram post, the Purple Garlic Italian Cafe revealed it's eyeing new digs, and the business has been posting updates on construction since March. It’s not clear when the second Purple Garlic will open, but the menu will likely feature original favorites.

Canada's 6ixty Wings chain will make its U.S. debut with a location in Rogers Ranch at 2703 N Loop 1604 West, it recently announced with a TikTok video. The store will debut in October and be the first of several in the Alamo City, a spokesperson told the Express-News.
