It’s hard to formulate an objective argument, as it always is with these things, that The Royal Tenenbaums is Wes Anderson’s best movie — but, to many of his devotees, there’s no contest. And perhaps more than any of the acclaimed Austin auteur’s work save for Rushmore, it’s a movie beloved by many who may not know any of his other films or even who he is. Said movie, about a family dysfunctional enough to make the rest of us feel fortunate about our own, will be screened on the lawn at the San Antonio Museum of Art this weekend as a part of Slab Cinema’s ongoing Wes Fest, a celebration of Anderson’s entire catalog. A word to the wise: the news is fully out about these rad outdoor Wes Fest screenings, so if you’re hoping for prime seating you’ll probably want to arrive early.
