It’s hard to keep up a solo music career for five years, let alone a band. Los # 3 Dinners have been doing it for three decades, and they’re celebrating Friday night at Sam’s Burger Joint (330 E. Grayson, $7, all ages, 8 p.m., with Soda Pop Social opening the show). Once and for all: Los Mescaleros (b. 1998) are NOT the Mescaleros (b. 1999), the band of former Clash leader Joe Strummer. They (the Los, not the The, and certainly not The The) play with De Los Muertos Friday night at Limelight (2718 N. St. Mary’s, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.), and it should be a lot of fun. But if you didn’t read this and headed to Limelight expecting to see Martin Slattery and Scott Shields, and got pissed in the process, do not panic: Wait for Halloween Saturday night and attend Bombasta’s Calavera Fest II at Sam’s Burger Joint ($10, or $5 if you come dressed in a costume, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.). In addition to the party combo led by El Robótico, there’ll be DJ Chorizo Funk, Mexican Stepgrandfather, Teokali Aztec Dancers, and others. You won’t see Strummer, but there’ll be some badass strumming and socially conscious rapping. — Enrique Lopetegui
