THE SOUND & THE FURY

For nearly a year, Druggist has been operating as a stripped-down duo, with Blake Cormier handling bass/piano/vocals and Zach Dunlap on guitar. The artistic success of the group’s 2007 release, There’s Already an Everything, proved that their songs can work with even the barest treatment, but the band has happily returned to the realm of backbeats and hi-hats, with the recent addition of drummer Jonathan Losasso.

Cormier says Losasso has extensive experience with Dallas-area bands such as Eaton Lake Tonics and Handclaps and Harmonies, and reports that Losasso has provided a “jazzy new aggression” to Druggist’s always-emotive music.

With their lineup settled, the group will soon embark on a winter tour that will find them playing 15 shows in seven states (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, New Mexico, Arizona, and California) over a period of three weeks. Four days before they head out of town, Druggist will kick off the tour with a January 26 show at Blanco Studios (301 Blanco Rd.), along with their pals Big Soy, Robo Trumble, and Saturday Night Satellites.
