The Sound & The Fury

Remember this name: Nadine
Mansour
(pronounced man-SOOR). Born in Germany, and a San Antonio resident since the age of 10, she’s a young Berklee graduate who has just released Catharsis, a debut that’s one of the best local albums of the year. Her thing, supposedly, is R&B and soul but, really, as far as I’m concerned, it is her tremendous voice what makes it all work — she can sing anything. I’ve been wanting to see one of her occasional live shows in SA, and now I got my wish: Nadine and her band will have a special performance at the Jump-Start Theater Co. on Saturday, December 19, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 p.m. (108 Blue Star, $10 through nadinemansour.com or $15 at the door). The show, named “An Evening of Hope,” will benefit the non-profit Children’s Bereavement Center (cbcst.org), which counsels children and teens (ages three to 18) that have lost loved ones. Catharsis is available on iTunes, Amazon, and
Emusic.
