The Sound & The Fury

I know what you’re thinking, San Antonio. “Geez, guys, you do so much for our music scene, how can we give something back?” Thanks for asking. We need your damn songs to stream from our Mixx Tape, post haste. Go to and download a release form, then email it along with your song to We’ll post it on our site where it will be seen by somewhere between five and 1 million people, plus it’ll almost certainly make an appearance in our weekly Mixx Tape Traxx column, whether I love it or absolutely hate it. You want us to write about your band, and this is the easiest way to put your stuff in my ear (don’t get any ideas, perv).

A few local happenings I do know about this week: the monthly Local 782 musicians’ mixer, 7 p.m. Thursday at C4 Workspace (free; 108 King William); Girl in a Coma’s EP release party, 8 p.m. Friday at Josabi’s ($10 in advance; 17200 Hwy. 16 N., Helotes); The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, Erekeecludi, and XRY, 8 p.m. Friday at the Ten Eleven ($5; 1011 Ave. B); and Pop Pistol and Bob Gnarley, 10 p.m. Saturday at Jiggers ($5; 1639 Babcock).

Fair warning for those of you attending the 782 mixer. I’m currently scheduled to speak at it. The topic? How to get your band more press coverage. Guess what I’ll be talking about. — Jeremy Martin
