The Sound & The Fury

While we wait for the reps at tour sponsor Ernie Ball to decide on the local lineup for the Warped Tour’s San Antonio stop, we’d love to entertain some wild speculation re: which lucky band will wind up as the subject of a feature story in our June 29 issue. I don’t envy the Ball crew; there are a lot of worthy bands here, and unlike you guys, they don’t have me to help them choose.

On Wednesday, you’ve got a choice between moshing — Prevail Within at the Ten Eleven ($8; — or Viking — Nordic Singers at the Instituto Cultural de Mexico ($25; 600 HemisFair Plaza Way). Thursday’s tougher: You can either see a once-promising band, Gay Sportscasters, play SA after 15 years’ absence, at the Mix (free; or help some up-and-comers, the Melissa Ludwig Band (see Mixx Tape Traxx, to your right), finance their debut album at a fundraiser at VFW Post 76 (by donation; 10 10th). Friday, you can bang your head (or scratch it in befuddlement) with We the Granada at Ten Eleven ($5), stomp your feet with flamenco artists Francisco J. Orozco, Steve Arispe, Sonya Jimenez, & Fandango at Main Plaza (free; 115 W. Main Plaza), or throw your hands up with JJ Lopez and Scuba Gooding’s Soul Spot at Tucker’s Kozy Korner (free; 1338 E. Houston).
