The Zen Funk of Mild High Club

Perhaps logging a lot of mileage between Los Angeles and Chicago— two cities where the members of the Mild High Club split their time— gave rise to the tongue-in-cheek allusion of the band's name to the notorious act of certain deeds done mid-flight in lavatories of airplanes. However, the five-piece's exotic, warm, and laid back slacker demeanor certainly radiates the kind of super fun, mellow, and enchanting vibes sure to put even the most worked up of individuals this Labor Day at K23 into the most zen states of mind.

Their live set for this go around will be sure to be heavy on numbers from their brand new record which debuted Friday August 26th on Stones Throw Records entitled, Skiptracing. With the name taken from the title of the first track on the album, the release represents their follow up to the well received debut of their 2015 album, Timeline, as it builds upon the heady ambiance of its predecessor with airy synth layers, delay-laden guitar notes dripping with soft decay, and an assortment of entrancing and surprisingly funky bass lines punctuating this calculatedly casual compilation of soothingly psychedelic rock and roll.
