Thelma and Louise (The Movie) Starring Thelma and Louise (The Two Headed Turtle)

In case you haven't heard, the San Antonio Zoo is now home to a little two headed outlaw named Thelma and Louise. The one-month-old Texas cooters were hatched with two necks, two heads and two brains, according to proud self proclaimed "dad" Craig Pelke, full time curator of reptiles, amphibians and aquatics at the Zoo. While caretakers aren't quite sure where "things go from two to one," on the little critter's body, Pelke says they will run some x-rays and MRIs sometime soon to find out.

Thelma and Louise recently shot to worldwide notoriety after shooting a man and driving off a cliff while holding hands. Oh, wait, no–just kidding, those are the 1991 characters from the Academy Award Winning film they were named after. My bad. "The name was the idea of Alan Kardon, the living collections manager, since the film was set in Texas," explains Pelke. We don't technically know if she's a a female. She's not done developing yet. Could be a Tom and Tim someday, or some other famous guy duo if [they turn out to be males]."

In the past month, the turtles have been profiled on Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Animal Planet, and many other news and entertainment outlets around the world for their perfect combination of cuteness, oddity and totally awesome allusion to one of the best feminist road movies of all time. Also, they have a Facebook.

This is our ode to Thelma and Louise (and Thelma and Louise).
