Being in a cover band is no
easy task, although it would seem simple enough: Play classic tunes from beloved bands and, by proxy, the people will eat it up. However, anyone that has ever seen more than, say, four tribute bands know that the scene is full of charlatans and wannabes whose passion for their idols just doesn’t translate to skill or talent. On the other hand, this margin for suckiness does still offer something in the way of entertainment. After all, the worst thing a band can be is boring. If you’re gonna butcher Thin Lizzy’s catalog of Irish-inspired rovin’ rock numbers, butcher it nice and proper. Amass Lynott lovers and let Austin’s Thin Lizzy tribute band know whether the Metal Capital of the World approves of their take on “Emerald,” “The Cowboy Song,” “Whiskey in the Jar” and “Jailbreak.” Breakout!
