This San Antonio French-style manor, once owned by a real-estate magnate, is now for sale

A French-style manor once owned by San Antonio construction contractor, developer and serial entrepreneur Terry Thrift Jr. has hit the market for just shy of $1.7 million.

Thrift, who died in 2017 at the age of 96, started out as a homebuilder but expanded into real estate development and eventually into software and credit card collections businesses, according to his obituary. He reportedly even lined up partnerships involving a dinner playhouse, ranching, timber and Imax theaters.

Built in 1980, the palatial two-bedroom, four-bath estate changed hands after Thrift's death, and it's unclear whether the current seller conducted a major reno after the purchase. Either way, the 4,000-square-food residence is distinctive to say the least.

A breathtaking living room features cathedral ceilings with light streaming in from an array of windows set above eye level. Banks of windows and French doors also provide views to the home's wraparound brick terraces, which have room for multiple sitting areas.
