A two-story house that was among the first built in the north-of-downtown Beacon Hill neighborhood has hit the market for $412,600.
Bexar County property records list the home as being built in 1918. However, a fire insurance map shows that the structure was actually in existence in 1911, meaning it predated most other homes in the development.
Records also show the lot was at one point owned by well-known land and cattleman D.K. Furnish, whose homes in nearby Monte Vista are among the historic district's most elegant mansions.
The renovated four-bedr00m, two-bath Beacon Hill property features a distinctive wraparound porch and balcony, along with the intricate architectural details that include interior pillars gracing its living areas.
The seller said he's regularly approached by people who remember the house as one of the street's focal points and as the spot where the neighborhood kids frequently met to play.
This home is listed by Wayne D. Beers with Keller Williams Legacy.
