Thunder From Down Under

It’s hard to comprehend that pornographic movie theaters were established before all-male strip shows — but that’s how it happened. In order to exploit the male form, it had to be publicly eroticized first. The 1970s, a time of great sexual revolution and exploration, made way for the proliferation of male revue shows at clubs popping up around the world at the time. All-male strip performance groups were orchestrated, showcasing the sensual splendor of the (almost) nude male form through erotic dance —cementing a place for men in a notoriously feminine profession. This glorious phenomenon paved the way for dance companies like Australia’s Thunder from Down Under, a stimulating group of buff, bronze, beautiful beaus formed in 1991. These drool-worthy Aussies are the entire package with their washboard abs, hairless appendages and sculpted glutes. Performing choreographed solo and collaborative dances, the performers gradually peel or rip off their clothing until they’re wearing nearly nothing at all. Occasionally pulling from the pool of enticed audience members, the dancers perform personal on-stage dances for those lucky enough to be chosen. Prepare your eggplant emojis for this sexy spectacle of man-meat!
